Recent Past Events
Below is a review of some of our events since 2022, in reverse order.
Lido Bandstand - Droitwich - 1st September 2024.
This was a very enjoyable afternoon, playing for the first time in Droitwich Lido Park Bandstand in the sunshine. We enjoyed playing with a good audience in very pleasant surroundings and hope to return next year following some very good feedback.
Sanders Park Bandstand, Bromsgrove - 7th July 2024.
We were invited back for the third successive year to enjoy performing in the beautiful Sanders Park, Bromsgrove. This year the weather was better than last year and the audience was significantly larger, with a lot of very positive feedback.
Spring Concert - Malley Hall - April 14th 2024.
Our Spring Concert for for 2024 took place on the afternoon of Sunday 14th April.
This concert had the theme 'Around the World', and featured music from many different genres and associated with many parts of the world. An audience of just over 100 people enjoyed a selection including 'Barber of Seville', Miss Saigon', 'Sousa', 'Take on Me', 'Out of Africa', 'Pirates of the Caribbean - At Worlds End', 'Global Variations', 'Wonderful World' etc.
Spring Play Day - Alderbrook School - March 9th 2024.
Members of AD Band were joined by around 10 other musicians for the second in a series of free play days, working on pieces such as ‘Mars’ (From the Planets), 'Gaelforce', 'Lyndon Lea' 'Jungle Book'.
Christmas concert - Malley Hall - December 10th 2023.
Our main Christmas concert for 2023 took place on the afternoon of Sunday 10th December at Malley Hall in Alderbrook School, Blossomfield Road, Solihull.
We welcomed an audience of around 135 people, and here is some of the feedback we received:
"Just to say ,have just arrived home,and want to say how much my friends and I enjoyed the concert. Thank you all,for the hard work you put in, look forward to the next concert."
"Would you be kind enough to pass onto the band our thanks for a fantastic afternoon of Christmas music. It certainly raised our spirits and got us into the Christmas spirit. Many thanks."
"I just wanted to thank the band and helpers for a lovely concert. It was enjoyed by all."

St John Ambulance Charity Concert - Shirley - 21st October 2023.
This very memorable concert took place in Shirley Methodist Church on 21st October.
The concert was enjoyed by an audience of over a hundred, including four important local dignitaries who demonstrated the CPR resuscitation technique, assisted by St John Ambulance cadets.
Over a thousand pounds was raised for St John Ambulance at the event.
Ilmington Show - August Bank Holiday 2023.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the band's first performance at the Ilmington show, and we had another very enjoyable day out. We performed three sets of our summer repertoire as well as enjoying the other entertainments on offer at the event. We look forward to returning again next year.
Coventry War Memorial Park - 13th August 2023.
It was the first time the band had played in Coventry for a few years, and we greatly enjoyed playing in the beautiful setting of the Memorial Park in front of an appreciative audience of well over a hundred. We hope to be invited back to perform again next year.
Sanders Park Bandstand, Bromsgrove - 30th July 2023.
After receiving some great feedback for last years performance, we were invited back this year for the afternoon of Sunday 30th July, in the lovely setting of Sanders Park, Bromsgrove.
We enjoyed giving our performance, in spite of the unfortunate weather conditions.
'A Concert fit for a King' - Shirley - 10th June 2023.
This concert will took place at Shirley Methodist Church, and we were joined by the Curdworth Church Choir in a lively program of music concluding with favourites from 'Last Night of the Proms'.
We welcomed an audience of around 120 and received some great feedback.

Coronation Concert - Curdworth - 6th May 2023.
This outdoor concert took place on the day that the Coronation of King Charles III took place.
Our concert was part of a wider program of entertainment and activities that took place in Curdworth throughout the afternoon and evening. We were joined by the Curdworth Parish Choir, and the concert included items connected to the coronation, plus 'last night of the proms' favourites and other current AD Band repertoire. The day was greatly enjoyed, in spite of the poor weather conditions.
Spring Concert - Malley Hall - Saturday 25th March 2023.
We welcomed an audience of 116 people for our Spring Concert in Malley Hall on the afternoon of Saturday 25th March 2023.
The theme of the concert was 'Around the British Isles', and the musical tour included a wide variety of pieces such as 'Amazing Grace', 'Thames Journey', 'My Fair Lady', 'All through the Night', 'The Land of the Mountain and the Flood', 'Gael Force', 'Streets of London', Clog Dance', 'Dartmoor 1912', 'Folk Songs from Somerset', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Barnard Castle' and 'Sweet Caroline'.
We received very good feedback for our performance and some of the audience immediately reserved places for our next Solihull concert or joined our mailing list.

Christmas Carols at Middleton and Curdworth - December 23rd 2022.
To round off 2022, about 15 of the band accompanied carol singers in the Warwickshire villages of Middleton and Curdworth and enjoyed some festive refreshments.
Christmas concert - Malley Hall - December 10th 2022.
We were delighted to welcome an audience of over a hundred people to our Christmas Concert on the afternoon of Saturday 10th December at Malley Hall in Alderbrook School, Solihull.
The program featured both traditional and less traditional items, including ‘Farandole’ by Bizet, ‘The Man with the Bag’, singalong traditional carols, ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’, ‘Sheperd’s Pipe Carol’, ‘Pop goes Bach’, plus a wide variety of other Christmas and winter related music.

Christmas 'Lights On' at Curdworth - December 4th 2022.
In spite of the cold weather, this was a fun outdoor event to be part of, playing for the local crowd before the Curdworth Christmas lights were switched on, then accompanying the Curdworth Parish Choir for the 'Big Sing Along'.
Concert at St Stephen's Church Redditch on afternoon of 15th October.
This was a second chance to perform the program of movie music recently performed at Shirley, this time in the beautiful church of St Stephen's, on the Green in the centre of Redditch.
The Concert took place on Saturday afternoon and was well received by the audience, most of whom were hearing the band for the first time.
Movie themed Concert at Shirley Methodist Church on 1st October.
This concert featured a wide range of film music, including music from Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia, Mission Impossible, Apollo 13, plus music by John Barry, John Williams, Marvin Hamlisch and Ennio Morricone. There were also two vocal solos and a soprano sax solo.

Ilmington Show - August Bank Holiday 2022.
This was a very enjoyable day performing at the Ilmington Show, after a break since 2019.
We performed two sessions of music, and were also entertained by Morris Dancing and other traditional village fete activities as well as a fly past by a Lancaster Bomber.
We look forward to performing again at next year's event which will take place on 28th August.
"On the Podium for a Winning Performance!" - Sat 30th July 2022.
This concert celebrated the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games and took place in Alderbrook School.
The following feedback was received from one of our audience, who was attending her third AD Band concert: "Thank you to the AD Band for a wonderful concert on Saturday evening. You are incredibly talented musicians and it is a true privilege to be part of your audience. Your performance was brilliant".

Sanders Park Bandstand, Bromsgrove - Sun 3rd July 2022.
We received some tremendouse feedback for our performance at the this free outdoor concert which took place in the lovely setting of Sanders Park, Bromsgrove.
The band played popular favourites including selections from Oliver, The Greatest Showman, Mary Poppins Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean , plus Liberty Bell, Radetzky March, Wonderful World, Skyfall, Blue Rock and more.
'Proms in the Park' Jubilee Concert - Fri 3rd June 2022
This concert took place at the King George V Playing Fields in Curdworth Village following a picnic, and was part of the celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen.
The AD Concert Band was joined by members of the Curdworth Parish Choir and the performance was very well received by an audience of around five hundred people.
Music included Pomp and Circumstance No 1, Jerusalem, Fantasia on British Sea Songs, plus Songs from the shows, Dancing Round the Nursery, James Bond music and more.
The event was greatly enjoyed by the band in spite of some challenging weather, and we hope to perform at Curdworth again in the near future.
Concert at St Philips Church, Redditch - 21st May 2022.
This Saturday evening concert took place at St Philips Church in Redditch, a beautiful church built in the early English style.
The concert was enjoyed by a lively and appreciative audience of around 50 people.
Music included a selection from 'Oliver', 'Breezing down Broadway' plus much of the program from the Spring concert.
"AD Springs Back" - Saturday 19th March 2022.
'AD Springs Back' was our first public concert for over two years, and was very well received. The concert took place at Shirley Methodist Church on Saturday 19th March 2022.
The program included music from West Side Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Greatest Showman, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, plus The Liberty Bell, Simple Gifts, Skyfall, Clarinet and Saxophone solos, Blue Rock and more.

Ilmington Show - August Bank Holiday 2024.
Last year marked the 25th anniversary of the band's first performance at the Ilmington show, and this year we returned again for another enjoyable day, this time sharing performance time with a ukulele orchestra.
